The issue 1 books are finally on the way! Wahoo! We received our proof copy today (after about three days of chasing people around at the post office since it got lost the first time around) and this book looks awesome, as you can clearly see in these gloriously off-color phone photos and one-handed video preview:
The ever-important front cover by which to judge a book.
The pages are super shiny and bright! Everything looks so crisp.
Even the back cover looks nice.
After fixing one very minor error and sending the files back to the printer, the book is all set! I’ve placed an order for a box of copies for those who want their books signed and sketched in, but it will also be available as an ebook and through IndyPlanet. At the moment, the estimated street date is April 15th, but this is possibly subject to change.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your patience and support during the whole production process. Delade and I originally intended to launch the book alongside the online launch, but due to 2013 being a neverending string of awful that didn’t quite work out as planned. We’re both extremely pleased with how the book came out, and can’t wait to share it with everyone. I hope you’ll think it was worth the wait, too.
Follower issue 1 is officially off with the printer! We expect to have a proof copy in our hands by March 5th, and assuming everything looks right, the book will be for sale by mid-March. It should be about $7 before shipping is added in (assuming there are no surprises) and there will also be an ebook version available.
In other notes, the Ursa Major Awards nominations are open for just a few more days! Please help support Follower (and Messenger, too!) nominating them for either of the Best Graphic Story or Best Other Literary Work categories! You should also nominate other works you enjoy. The awards are given based on fan votes, but even a nomination would be a huge honor.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you will continue to enjoy Follower!
It’s been a while since we’ve made a proper news post here, so let’s fix that. Just a few minor items to accompany the update this week:
Follower will now be updating with larger page images! I am not sure why I haven’t been doing this all along, but since we’re not terribly far into the comic, I’m planning to update the previous pages with larger images, and continue posting pages at the bigger size in the future for the enjoyment of your eyeballs.
The first print issue is coming along nicely. I’ve made a ton of progress in the past week or so, and am planning to send it off for print in the next couple of weeks. I’m not happy about taking so long getting it done, but I’d much rather create a book I can take pride in than just rush and get it done, and taking the extra time has certainly been worth it. I can’t wait to see how most of these pages will look in print.
Delade has been working along on scripts, and we’ve got the fourth chapter nearly completed. Which probably won’t be available until uh. Sometime next year. Point is, we have a story to tell and we’re planning it to death. So send Delade a word of encouragement so we can get the thing roughed out. (Fun fact: the entire story is divided into about three major arcs, the first of which is five chapters long.)
That’s all I’ve got for now, so thanks for reading and stop by next week for more! If you can’t wait, there’s more stories from the same universe over on Messenger. Just with more watercolor.
