If you have about one minute to spare, Follower is eligible to be nominated for a 2021 Ursa Major Award in the Best Graphic Story Category. Anyone can submit a nomination, and it would mean the world to us if you would do us the honor of sending in a nomination. You do have to register, but it’s very quick and simple, and I have been on the list for years and never received spam of any kind from that source.

To quote the Ursa Major Awards website: “More formally known as the Annual Anthropomorphic Literature and Arts Award, the Ursa Major Award is presented annually for excellence in the furry arts. It is intended as Anthropomorphic (a.k.a. Furry) Fandom’s equivalent of the Hugo Award ® presented by the World Science Fiction Society, mystery fandom’s Anthony Award, horror fandom’s Bram Stoker Award, and so forth. Anyone may nominate and vote for candidates for the Awards. These Awards are decided by the fans, not by a committee.”

While I don’t know what our actual odds of winning an award are, it would be extremely cool and validating and probably helpful in other ways to be able to call ourselves “Ursa Major Awards Nominated webcomic, Follower.” Kind of like how you see “Hugo Award Nominee” on sci-fi book covers.

So, uh, we reached our monthly Chio Club funding goal of $100/month! That means that, at least for the next 30 days, I’ll be working on exporting and uploading bigger, nicer versions of the comic AND giving everything a little touchup in the process. The site will be improved over time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. We’ve been having a rough time lately, and I’ve been having a rough time in particular, and this is really, really humbling and heartening.

What’s next?

Well, on to the next goal, I suppose?

The next goal in our lineup is $250/month which will enable Delade and I to create some new illustrated fiction in the Follower universe. To quote the goal posted on Ko-Fi and Patreon:

If we can make it all the way to $250/month, we can start to produce new fiction, written by Delade and illustrated by Bug. There are lots of stories to tell in the Messenger and Follower-verse, and they don’t all fit into the comic. We’d love to find a way to share more! Stories will be patron-exclusive for the month they’re released, and available to the public after that.

So, that’s the next goal. Join the Chio Club to help us reach it!

Nominate Follower for Best Graphic Story!

Nominations are open for the next ten days for the Ursa Major Awards. Follower is eligible for nomination in the Best Graphic Story category. If you’ve read and enjoyed Follower in the past year, please consider submitting our comic for nomination! 2021 was awful for a lot of people, but it was truly the worst year of both our lives. We took that fury and pain and channeled it into what I believe is the best chapter of the comic to date, and it will only get better from here. Anyone can register to nominate media, and choose up to five nominees per category. You can help our chances at a nomination by sharing Follower and the nomination link with your friends! You can even point them to the New Readers page to help them see if they’re into the story.

It would be an honor just to be nominated after pouring our hearts and souls into this comic during this awful year. Thank you for your consideration! Nominations will close on 12 February 2022.
