Follower updates! (In the making!)

Follower updates! (In the making!) published on No Comments on Follower updates! (In the making!)

Hey friends! It’s been a while since I’ve updated, so here I am, because I have one!

So, Follower has been on an extended hiatus while I’ve been dealing with health issues and pain problems, and I think I’ve finally made some progress dealing with all this. You can read more about it in the latest Chio Chronicles newsletter or in more detail on my personal Tumblr, but in either case, I’ve been feeling significantly better over the past couple days, to the point where my really problematic shoulder is practically normally usable again. I’m in disbelief and very, very happy about this development.

Anyway! I’ve been working on drawing, specifically on Follower updates, and assuming things continue in this way for the foreseeable future (I have no reason to think they won’t) I’m aiming for a return to regular updates February 1, 2024. I’m overshooting a little, I would have liked to start at the beginning of January, but I want to be realistic about my limitations. And this date could still change if I keep having trouble over the long term, but I feel like I’m finally on track to things starting to get better.

Thanks for continuing to stick with me despite how complicated and slow this has all been! I’ve been dying to draw for months and now I can and it’s absolutely wild. I can’t wait to get more pages done and posted! As usual, subbing to the Chio Club via Patreon or Ko-Fi will get you access to whatever I’m working on at the moment.

Thanks again for reading, and I’ll see you on February 1!!!!

New domain name incoming!

Hey all! One of the projects I’ve been working on in the background while drawing has been difficult is building a shiny new website for Follower. As part of this, I’m going to be finally transferring the whole comic onto its own URL instead of living underneath messenger-comic.com. It’s a lot easier to give people a shorter URL that they might remember than the current one. After 10 years (!!) it’s finally time.

What does this mean for you? If you use RSS to subscribe to the comic, you’ll have to switch to the new feed URL. I will make sure to post about it well in advance so you’ll see something before the site moves. I’m planning to be relatively loud about it so it won’t go unnoticed, even after the move.

If you don’t use RSS (you should, though!) you won’t notice a big change since I am planning to make the old URL eventually automatically redirect to the new one. So when you visit the site, you’ll end up in the new place no matter what.

There will be a short transition period in between where both sites will be alive at the same time, just to make sure people see the change, but then it’ll become an automatic redirect after that.

The best place to keep up with the news is on the social media site of your choice (see everywhere to find me on this page!) or to subscribe to our newsletter.

Thanks for reading! I am continuing to work on new pages during this time too, but slowly due to my ongoing health issues. I’m not giving up, though!

Bug’s Got Car Problems & Other tales

Bug’s Got Car Problems & Other tales published on No Comments on Bug’s Got Car Problems & Other tales

Update July 28: We made the goal and my car is getting set back up today! I am humbled and thankful. I’m leaving my comics on sale for anyone who might have wanted to grab a copy. I also dropped a new sketch comic last night talking about…life, if you’re interested. That can be found here on my blog!

Hey hey! It has been far longer than I meant it to be since my last post here! To make a lot of long stories short, I’ve been dealing with a lot of issues from my newly-diagnosed connective tissue and heart-related disorders. It’s been a lot to deal with, more than I expected, and I learned that I can go from feeling relatively ok to not ok at all very quickly…and then I ran out of buffer pages. So it’s been kind of difficult to get back on board with making comics, but I am really trying.

I have a great team of doctors who are making huge changes to my life day by day, but they are specialists for unusual conditions like mine and are located an hour one way from where I live. My car’s registration ran out, and I need an oil change, and I can afford none of it.

So, as a last ditch attempt to try and mitigate some of this, I put all my digital comics on sale on itch and ko-fi. All I need is 9 people to buy a bundle on itch and I can fix these issues.

If you’ve ever wanted to pick up some of the Follower bonus stories and single issues, this is the best opportunity for you and me!

I'm decreasing my reliance on social media. Sign up for comic emails!
